On March 16, 2011 Jennifer Snyder was murdered by her married boyfriend of more than 2 years, after learning that she was pregnant. Veterinarian David Rapoport shot Jenn twice in the mouth and once in the back and then dumped her body in wooded ravine. It was a badly botched crime, with a trail of evidence that led authorities to David’s house the day Jenn went missing. He pleaded guilty 9 months later to avoid the death penalty, and is currently serving 2 life sentences for his crime.
Media attention and speculation following Jenn’s death was intense. Her family, feeling battered by the interviews by the media, reached out to filmmaker Tracy Schott. They wanted Jenn’s story to be told. What happened next, they couldn’t have predicted. Tracy ‘googled’ pregnancy and homicide and discovered a frightening and unbelievable statistic:
Homicide is the #1 cause of death during pregnancy.
And so began the journey that was to become Finding Jenn’s Voice. Check out more about the film here.
